History
The Office for Policy Studies on Violence Against Women existed in the College of Arts & Sciences from 2014 – 2023. It was created as a joint project between the then-Dean of the College and Carol Jordan who from 2003-2014 served as founding director of the University’s Center for Research on Violence Against Women. That program in the Division of Research had been created as a joint project of then-Governor Paul E. Patton for whom Jordan worked and then-UK President Lee T. Todd, Jr. and became a unique, nationally recognized program.
Mission
The mission of the Office for Policy Studies on Violence Against Women is to shape the creation and implementation of public policy to improve the lives of women harmed by violence; and to enhance services, legal response, and legislative reform related to violence against women.
